Weddings at Wave Street

Wave Street Studios is a hidden gem on the Recreation Trail above Steinbeck's historic Cannery Row. We are a private events venue for weddings, receptions, meetings and private parties for up to 150. The venue is located half a block from McAbee Beach and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. This new all weather indoor/outdoor eco-modern facility has a 1000 sq.' sprung dance floor, studio sound system and complete media and live streaming services. We are live music and late night dance friendly. The setting features a waterfall, radiantly heated bench, manicured succulent gardens, native granite rock walls and copper clad doors. The venue welcomes outside vendors, BYOB and offers a private historic house on site. Wave Street Studios is ideal for planners, brides and locals looking for a unique venue close to area accommodations, visitor services and attractions. 

What's included

Terms: Clients are able to bring their own alcohol and contract directly with the caterer, food truck and/or vendor(s) of their choice. There are no tips, taxes, surcharges, corkage fees or other hidden charges. The studio requires a $1500 deposit to reserve your date. Clients pay to 50% of the total contract 90 days before the date and the balance 30 days before the date. All payments received by the venue are non-refundable however clients can reschedule their date within 12 months and change the type of event to best suite their needs. 

Times: Studio access from 2pm to 4pm the day before for a ceremony rehearsal, 9am to midnight the day of and 9am to noon the following day to pick up anything left overnight (food, cake, alcohol, flowers, decorations, gifts etc.) 

Floor Plans: Studio owner/designer Rhett Allen Smith works directly with our clients to create a custom floor plan(s) for your pre-ceremony, ceremony, reception and after party.

Set up and Clean up: The studio provides and sets up all the tables, chairs, rolling bar, buffets, patio heaters, plants, custom lighting, indoor outdoor speakers, piano, dance floor etc. (See Included furnishings tab) included in your custom floor plan. 

Outside Vendors: Studio staff works to integrate your vendors into the facility with space requirements, electrical, lighting, building access, parking solutions, wifi, etc.

Transitions: Studio staff moves/adds/removes the tables and chairs for all your transitions from pre-ceremony to ceremony, ceremony to reception, reception to dancing and dancing to clean-up. 

Rentals: Studio staff will receive your rentals (linens, runners, plates, glasses, silverware, napkins etc.)  the morning of or day before your event. Staff will place your rented linens on the tables typically before 11am the day of. This allows our clients to place center pieces, decorate and enjoy some set-up time in the venue with family.The following day, studio staff will be here 9am to noon to facilitate the return of your rentals to the rental company.

Audio/Video: Studio rental includes our 16 speaker sound system, wireless handheld microphone, basic public address system, 65" smart TV monitor and use of our Yamaha C-7 Grand Piano. Studio has a commercial free spotify account you can use or clients can log in to Apple Music, or any music service on our computer for background music in the studio, on our patio, in our tearoom or upstairs on our Wave Street level. 

Bridal Ready Room Option: $750 The historic Quock Mui House is available for a bridal ready room
Fire Place option: $300 Includes firewood with S'more fixings, roasting sticks etc.
Rain Cover: $750  Wave Street Studios can rain protect our patio ensuring the full use of our Recreation Trail level for outdoor dining. Clients can elect to include this option as late as the morning of the event to avoid having to guess what the weather will be like.

Clean-Up: Our client or our clients vendors are responsible to return any rented items to their original containers so that they are ready for the studio to return to the rental company the following day. Studio staff will clean-up after the event. 

During the event: Studio staff will maintain and keep supplied our 4 public restrooms and provide and refresh all trash, recycle and compost containers.

Outside Vendors: Studio staff will work to integrate your vendors into the facility with space requirements, electrical, lighting, building access, parking solutions, wifi etc.

Event Insurance and Parking Information

Day of Event Insurance:

You will need to purchase a day-of-event insurance policy if you plan to serve alcohol.

The coverage amount should be 1 million dollars.

The insured property address is for 774 Wave Street, Monterey, CA 93940

The primary entity to insure is you or whoever is renting the venue (person, couple, corporation, partnership etc)

The policy should also name the property owners, Rhett & Judy Smith, and Wave Street Inc. as "Additionally Insured" for the day of your event.

Wave Street, Monterey - Parking Solutions

For parking, we recommend that out-of-town guests stay at a nearby hotel. (The Clement Intercontinental is right beside us. 

Less expensive probably, 3 blocks away, is the Victorian Inn Best Western.) Then they can just leave their car at the hotel and walk over.

Otherwise, there are several lots and a large public parking garage within a block. Typically, they run around $20/day.

Also, just past Hopkins Marine Station towards Pacific Grove (along the coast), (about a 1/3 mile away), there is free all-day parking.














Facility Facts


We are one vote away from serving food and drinks at our concerts and events

Hi everyone, Wave Street Studios has applied for a new Use Permit to serve food and drinks (beer, wine and spirits) at our concerts and events.

We've already obtained Water Management approval, ABC approval and the Monterey City staff has indicated their support.

The last hurdle is an approval by the Monterey Planning Commission. The commission meets Tuesday 4pm March 26th 2024 to review our application, hear from the community and take a vote.

Adding Wave Street Studios to our local music, culture and entertainment options is clearly needed and a win for both residents and visitors alike.

Wave Street Studios is a television production studio that seats a live studio audience. Our concerts will be recorded in collaboration with our artists for future commercial release and sale.
